Antigonish Highland Society – 2018 Antigonish Highland Games
The Antigonish Highland Society (AHS) is in the process of its greatest transformation in its 155 year history. We are a gemstone of Scottish Heritage in Nova Scotia. Our society has a mandate to advocate for an authentic expression of Highland Scottish culture. We balance change with a respect for preserving traditions while adopting new expressions. As our community grows and changes we reflect accepted values, known history and modern practice. The Board operates under a Strategic Plan intended to continue to preserve, enhance and refresh Scottish heritage in Nova Scotia.
The Games, since inception in 1863, are northern Nova Scotia’s premiere entertainment attraction, bringing thousands of regional, national and international fans and participants of Highland music, dance and athletics to Antigonish each summer. The games are the largest annual undertaking of the Society. They represent part of a calendar of events hosted by the Society. To accomplish our goals we often form partnerships.
