 Volunteers

Our outdoor Scottish festival is now 146 years old and the success of the program is founded on the strength and enthusiasm of our volunteers!

The Highland Society recruits 60-70 volunteers to run the various events scheduled throughout Highland Games week. You do not have to be Scottish to volunteer, but when you do volunteer you will be immersed in a sea of colorful tartans and surrounded by the sounds of the pipers, drummers and fiddlers. You will also be able to enjoy the power of the Scottish heavy events, the thrill of tug of war, and the finesse of our young Highland dancers.

Time Commitment
There 2 areas offering volunteer opportunities. The first are the planning committees for each event that meets regularly several months leading up to the games. Second, there are the on-field activities of the games. You can choose either or both areas.

During the Games week we ask for a commitment of at least one 8-hour shift. Games events are led by Committee Chairs who direct volunteer activities in their specific area. The Committee Chair will ensure you are well educated in what is expected of you, ensuring appositive volunteer experience.
