Competition Rules
1. This is an invitational championship and if a
team declines participation after June 26th;
after making prior
agreement to participate then that team will have their
invitation to participate revoked for 2011.
2. Weight Limits: Men - 1700 lbs
3. Teams consist of ten (10) pullers plus spares
and a coach. Pullers are allowed 1/8” hobnails
or flat plates;
however cleats or corks are not acceptable.
4. All teams must report for weigh-in 1 hour
prior to pull time. Weight shown on competition
scales is final. No
changes of pullers of any team allowed after weigh-in.
5. Time Limits: Men - 1700 lbs will be fifteen
(15) minutes
6. The team with the most rope over the centre
line at the end of the time limit will be the
winner.
7. In case of a tie at the end of time limit,
there will be a five (5) minute overtime.
8. If rope breaks and two pullers or less are
over the line, the pull will restart at the
beginning. If more then two
pullers are over the starting line, then the pull will
restart at the breaking point with the same
number of pullers
over the starting line.
9. Only one (1) coach and one (1) water boy
allowed in the actual pull area.
10. No puller may put their hands past the
center flag on the rope.
11. Side swaying of rope to start a team from
holding position is prohibited.
12. Hip or knee lock will not be allowed.
13. The tactic known as “the whip”, which is
sudden dropping to the ground violently breaking
the back lock of the
opposing team while straight holding on the hands, is
prohibited.
14. No part of any puller's body may contact the
ground but his/her feet. The anchor may from
time to time touch
the ground with his/her hand in order to maintain
his/her balance however he/she must not use
their hands as a third foot.
15. Marking lines will be put down 8 feet apart.
All pullers of teams must keep within the lines
or be disqualified. 16. The judge’s decision
will be final and must be abided and respected.
Use of foul language will not be tolerated
and may result in disqualification from the pull. |
