Highland Games Street Fair |
Main Street between the intersections of
Church & College Streets
Thursday, July 8th, 11-3pm
Antigonish Highland Games Street Fair is an
annual tradition using the center block of Main
Street (from College to Church Streets) this
popular family friendly event features live
entertainment, merchant sidewalk sales,
arts/crafts/farmers market vendors, children’s
games/activities and fundraising opportunities
for local charitable groups - drawing visitors
and locals alike and creating a festive
atmosphere.
Main Street businesses prepare for Highland
Games by participating in the merchant window
decorating contest that is kindly sponsored by
Antigonish Chamber of Commerce. Decorated
windows create a Scottish face on our downtown
so that visitors and locals are immersed into
the spirit of the games. Windows are judged
during the street fair and a prize for the most
attractive and create window will be awarded on
the entertainment stage.
Highland Games Street Fair 2009 was a successful
event with attendance in the thousands, over 40
vendors and sidewalk sales, charity BBQ and 8
other booths for local charities. 2 bounce
inflatables, kids games and prizes and face
painting along with appearances of 2 NASCAR race
vehicles from Riverside International Speedway
and Daisy the Cow from Scotsburn Dairy and a
full stage of local entertainment during the 4
hour event. We wish to grow on our success in
2010.
Participation is free however registration is a
requirement as a merchant with a sidewalk sale,
as an arts/crafts/farmers market vendor or as a
local charity for a fundraiser. Merchants are
encouraged to borrow items for window display
from the Antigonish Highland Society. For
