Experience the
exhilaration and excitement of the Antigonish
Highland Games 5 Mile Road Race. Since our
inception in 1998 our numbers have grown from 85
to in excess of 350 in 2009. We are expecting
the 2010 edition to be the largest yet!
The course commences at
picturesque Columbus Field, through Greenwold
and winds its way around a portion of Old South
River Road and toward the Antigonish
Landing. The setting sun off to the west, the
swaying trees, and the background skirl of the
bagpipes will raise the adrenaline. With the
magnificent habitat of wildlife migration you
will be overcome by this breathtaking
experience. You inhale the aroma of blossomed
trees and wild flowers, which cover the terrain
alongside the course. To the opposite side of
your run, the tranquil waters leading into Antigonish Harbour make it one of the most
serene and undisturbed examples of nature at its
best.
As you quicken your
pace you can almost envision the tall ships that
once sailed through the waters in a more
bustling era. These vessels were the main means
of transportation in early Antigonish.
The magnitude of the peacefulness allows you to focus,
relax and strive for your own personal best
time.
What more can
one ask?
We'd love to have you
experience real 'Scottish' hospitality and
camaraderie in the Highland Heart of Nova
Scotia.
Chip timing ensures
quick, accurate results that are available after
the race or online. Each participant will
receive a technical t-shirts to help commemorate
this event.

trophy was introduced for the first time in 2008
to the top local female runner who records the
fastest time. The trophy is donated by the
family of the late Evelyn and Donald Gillis in
memory of the tremendous commitment displayed by
both as patrons of the Antigonish Highland
Games.
New in 2009, to celebrate the Scottish history
of the games, prizes with be awarded to fastest
runners wearing a kilt.
Join the many local,
national and international runners who have
circled this as a MUST EVENT. All skill levels
are welcome.
We guarantee that you will truly enjoy the
experience – dare to prove us wrong!
