 Highland Hikes

Schedule TBA

Come join us and start your day with a Highland Hike along some of the finest hiking trails Nova Scotia has to offer. All hikes begin at 10am with participants gathering at the Highland Games Administration Office at Columbus Field. Coordinated transportation will be arranged to hiking trail.

Fairmont Ridge Hiking Trail
A 11 kilometre set of six stacked loops that go through a variety of terrain varying from rock outcrops, gullies, and pastures to hardwood groves and beautiful waterways. Views are wonderful and wildlife is plentiful. A trail the entire family can enjoy!

Cape George Hiking Trail
Offering 33 kilometres of connected loops and linear sections. If you enjoyed hiking the Fairmont Ridge Trail, then you will be amazed at the beauty of this exceptional trail system. The trail offers panoramic views at various points on the trail at elevations of up to 600 feet above sea level.

Chez Deslauriers Hiking Trail
Pomquet Acadian Trails; 6 km of coastal and inland hiking trails along the shores of St. George’s Bay. The trailhead, located at Chez Deslauriers, is marked by a large map depicting the trail system. The trail system includes 3 stacked loops and a 1 km linear coastal trail. Directional signage is present along the trail. Numbered markers are linked to a self-guided interpretive brochure, available at Chez Deslauriers. Highlights of the trail include an amazing view of 20-metre high limestone and gypsum cliffs overlain by glacial till (remnants of a glacial drumlin), a barachois pond surrounded by cranberry plants, 150-200 year old white pine trees, various stages of forest succession, a glacial erratic transported some 2 km by glaciers, and views of Cape Breton Island in the distance.
